DESERT RAIN PSYCHEDELIC
Born during a series of long jam sessions in the California desert, DRP (Desert Rain Psychedelic) offers an intricately layered take on cosmic country, retro soul, and bluesy jam music. A complex tapestry of electric, acoustic, and slide guitars supports the shimmering melodies of the standout track “Natural State." Other songs, like the inspired ode to risk-taking “Don’t Stop,” wink knowingly in the direction of such period production pop as Lee Hazelwood or Petula Clark, all while maintaining firm footing in groovy, retro-roots verities. The Beatles‘ classic “I’ve Got a Feeling” is revealed to be the funky stomper it always could have been. With their atmospheric, luminous, soulful evocations of place and of bedrock American musical touchstones, DRP banks on the evergreen appeal of rootsy, psychedelic guitar pop.
