A quintessential New York project—eclectic, collaborative, and, when need be, transgressive—Ziq Street Records springs from the global musical experiences and relationships of its founder, the New York-born-and-bred musician, songwriter, and producer Bryan Lurie.


Ziq Street’s purview is global, presenting music with deep connections to Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and African traditions, folk, funk, house, and improvisational rock—all music respected; all barriers disregarded. Its core aesthetic is transportive and ecstatic, rooted in the oldest musical technologies and fully conversant in the latest. Ziq Street loves both the pure materiality of sound for sound’s sake and the simple, timeless folk song. “All great music is psychedelic to me,” says Lurie, “in that it conjures up images.”
